FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about ReversoBox
General Questions
What problem does ReversoBox solve?
We buy homes and offices paying for square meters, but we don't exploit the available cubic meters in height. Materials and objects positioned too high or too low create safety risks (falls, instability) and daily discomfort. ReversoBox solves this problem by allowing vertical space to be used in complete safety.
What is ReversoBox?
ReversoBox is a patented space-saving furniture system that positions high, near the ceiling, and descends to human height when needed. It works via air suction (with portable or centralized vacuum), without electric motors. When not needed, it automatically closes and stays high without taking up space, creating no obstacle for a person passing under the furniture.
How was the idea of ReversoBox born?
The idea came from an everyday problem: a large pot positioned high on a shelf in the kitchen, difficult to reach without climbing on a chair. Hence the question: why don't furniture descend to our height, instead of forcing us to climb? Thus ReversoBox was born: furniture that descends to human height when needed and goes back up when no longer needed.
Is ReversoBox only for the kitchen?
No, ReversoBox is versatile and adaptable to many environments: home (living room, kitchen, bedroom, garage, balcony), offices (archives, false ceilings), commercial spaces, and any environment where space recovery is needed. Configurations exist for every need: from domestic to professional use.
How much space is recovered with ReversoBox?
ReversoBox exploits unused vertical space near the ceiling. In an environment with ceilings from 2.5 to 2.9 meters, you can recover from 50 cm to 90 cm of useful height for storage, without occupying a single centimeter of floor space. The equivalent of an entire wardrobe, completely invisible when closed.
Technical Operation
How does ReversoBox technically work?
ReversoBox uses a patented system based on air suction. The furniture opens manually and descends to human height (without using any energy, but exploiting the slow flow of air entering the space left free during the furniture's descent). To raise it back up, a portable vacuum (or centralized suction system) is connected, which creates depression and automatically lifts the furniture to the high position. No complex electric motors, cables or remote controls needed.
Do you need a special vacuum?
No, it works with a normal portable air vacuum (those common for domestic or professional cleaning). Alternatively, if the building has a centralized suction system, ReversoBox can be connected directly to it. No special machinery required.
How long does it take to raise/lower the furniture?
The descent is manual and takes a few seconds (a simple gesture to open it). The ascent via vacuum takes about 10-20 seconds depending on the size of the furniture and the power of the vacuum. The movement is slow, controlled and safe.
Is the ReversoBox system noisy?
The noise level depends on the vacuum used. With a standard vacuum, the noise is comparable to that of a normal household vacuum cleaner and lasts only for the 10-20 seconds necessary for ascent. The descent is silent because it requires no energy. Quieter vacuums can be used for noise-sensitive environments.
Does ReversoBox consume electrical energy?
Only during ascent and depending on the loaded weight, when using the vacuum (for 10-20 seconds). The consumption is equivalent to that of a normal vacuum cleaner for less than half a minute. When the furniture is in the high or low position, it consumes nothing. No standby motor, no passive consumption.
Can I install ReversoBox in a false ceiling?
Yes, ReversoBox is ideal for false ceilings. The furniture is completely hidden inside the false ceiling structure and becomes invisible when closed. It doesn't protrude, isn't visible, doesn't occupy visible space. It's a perfect solution for offices and environments where aesthetics matter.
What's the difference between portable and centralized vacuum?
The portable vacuum is a common mobile vacuum that connects to the furniture when it needs to be raised. Centralized suction is a fixed system (present in some buildings) with wall outlets: you connect ReversoBox directly to the outlet and the system is always ready without needing to move vacuums around.
Installation and Customization
Can ReversoBox be installed in any environment?
Yes, ReversoBox has been designed to adapt to many environments: kitchen, living room, bedroom, garage, balcony, hallway, office and commercial spaces. The system is modular and customizable in dimensions. The only requirement is a ceiling structure (or false ceiling) capable of supporting the load. If in doubt, a technician can verify structural suitability.
What minimum height is needed to install ReversoBox?
ReversoBox requires a minimum height of about 2.70 meters to function correctly. With higher ceilings (3 meters or above) the space gain is even greater: you can recover from 60 cm to over 1 meter of useful height space, completely unused in normal configuration.
Does ReversoBox installation damage the ceiling?
Installation requires fixing supports to the ceiling or load-bearing structure. Like any ceiling system (chandeliers, tracks, decorative beams), it leaves anchor points. However, the system does not require invasive interventions on wall structures: it is comparable to installing a chandelier or ceiling shelves. For precise information on installation in your specific environment, contact the ReversoBox team.
How much weight can ReversoBox support?
The supported load varies based on model dimensions and configuration. Standard models are designed for domestic use loads (books, pots, tools, clothes). Professional models for commercial use or document archives handle greater loads. The ReversoBox team provides precise technical specifications for each configuration upon request.
Does ReversoBox work in humid environments like kitchen, balcony or bathroom?
Yes, the materials used in ReversoBox construction are chosen to resist normal humidity in domestic environments, including kitchen and balcony. For environments with particularly high humidity or direct exposure to weather (uncovered balconies), it is advisable to consult the team to evaluate the most suitable configuration.
Can ReversoBox be disassembled and reinstalled in another apartment?
Yes, the system is designed to be removable. If you move house or renovate, ReversoBox can be disassembled and reinstalled in the new environment. The mechanical components are reusable; the only part that needs to be adapted is the ceiling anchoring system, which depends on the structure of the new space.
Can ReversoBox be customized in dimensions?
Yes, ReversoBox is made to measure based on available space and specific needs. It is not a "one size fits all" product: each installation is designed based on the environment's measurements (width, depth, available height) and intended use. Contact the team for a custom quote.
